R' Shimon says: that a bad trait a person should stay away from is borrowing and not paying back; one who borrows from man and one who borrows from G-d.

R'I Toledo explains that this statement isn't only referring to a monetary loan but it also includes taking any favor from someone else. When someone helps you out in some way you should make sure to pay them back by showing gratitude and praising their actions and of course returning the favor if the opportunity arises.

If we would be more careful about showing gratitude it will help us from getting upset with people. Many times we may become upset with a spouse, child, friend or co-worker and we think how could they do XY or Z? If we just think for a minute about all of the wonderful things they have done to help us in the past in so many different ways it will be easy to cope with the situation.

He also explains that the end of this statement is telling us that in fact whatever wealth has been bestowed upon us should be viewed as being a loan from G-d. If we were blessed with riches we should realize that the money is a loan that must be paid back. How do we pay back G-d? Once a person takes from the loan what he needs he should use the rest to fulfill the Will of G-d by using his wealth to help the less fortunate.

Shabbat Shalom,

Heath
