The Mishna in Avos (4;5) says whoever honors the Torah he will be honored.
The Midrash Shmuel (I think :) says there are three aspects to honoring the Torah.
1) There is the Torah itself which a person must honor. When they contemplate the greatness of the Torah, that it is the word of G-d and He gave it to us as a direction book to living a person will honor the Torah.
2) Honoring the people that learn and teach the Torah as these people are involved in the loftiest pursuit and guide us in the correct path to the will of G-d. This includes respected these people accordingly and helping them.
3) Honoring the physical Torah which is why we rise when the Torah enters the room or when the Ark is opened. Since this book contains infinite knowledge and the word of G-d we should treat it with the proper reverence. This includes honoring the holy books which contain explanations and commentaries on the Torah as well.
May we all merit to honor the Torah in all of these ways and in turn become honored among the creation.
With praise to the Ribbono Shel Olam we were blessed this week with a son (9 pounds). Both baby and mom are home and trying to rest a bit. IY'H the bris will be next Wednesday morning.
