The Mishna in Avos (5;7) says "there are seven distinctions between a golem and a wise person....(a wise person) admits to the truth".

Continuing on from last week, the sixth distinction between a golem and a wise person is whether or not they admit to the truth.

This is a very hard thing to do because it conflicts with our own ego and pride. Many times in life we take a certain approach, have a certain opinion maybe even make a bad investment.  In the end we see that our direction or approach was mistaken and we were simply wrong. The correct action to take is to admit to ourselves (or others if necessary) that we made a mistake and then try to change our approach. Although it is hard, continuing in our mistaken path will only make the situation worse.

We should always be able to overcome our ego and pride and live our lives according to the truth.

Shabbat Shalom,

Heath
