There is a story of the famed R' Shlomo Zalman Aurebach zt'l, who was approached by a woman who was in great emotional pain. She explained to the great rabbi that for many years she has been married and she and her husband are still childless. The great rabbi who was known for his warmth and caring understood that the woman had thought she had a "claim against G-d". He told the woman that "G-d doesn't owe you anything, not health, money, happiness. He doesn't owe you anything and he doesn't owe me anything either". The woman heard his words and proceeded to leave when the great rabbi went after her and told her again, "G-d doesn't owe you anything not health, money, happiness. He doesn't owe you anything and he doesn't owe me anything either". But he told her, "if you do something for someone that you don't need to do, something for someone that you don't owe anything to, then maybe G-d will do something for you as well that He doesn't owe you".

The woman decided to take the rabbi's advice and she began to volunteer in the preemie ward of the local hospital. Nine months later she gave birth to healthy twins. We know that they way we treat other people Hashem treats us, if we act towards others and give to them even when we don't owe them anything then He will treat us in the same way.

It is Purim which is a time of great miracles and salvation. It is an auspicious time to pray and beseech G-d not only for our national salvation but for our personal salvation as well.

Purim Sameach and Shabbat Shalom,

Heath
