R'Biderman tells a story of a prince who stood to inherit a great fortune from his father the King. When the king died though he hid this vast wealth and left it up to his son to find the fortune. After his father's death the prince was walking through the palace and he noticed that one of the floor tiles was crooked. This wouldn't have raised his suspicion normally, but he knew his father the king was a perfectionist and exacting. How could it be that he would have a crooked floor tile in his palace? The prince went over to the tile and lifted it to reveal the great fortune his father left for him.

In life we see everything that G-d the King of king does. We know that He is perfect and straight in all of His Ways and in everything that He does. So when we see something in life that looks crooked, as if we were given a "bad deal", or difficult situation, we should realize that what lies beneath this difficult situation is a vast fortune. It is through our perseverance and trust in G-d during these difficult times, when things aren't straight and flat, that we can accumulate great "spiritual wealth".

Shabbat Shalom,

Heath
