In last week's parsha we read the curses that would befall the Jewish People if they did not follow the Torah. Our sages teach us that after reading all of those tragedies, the next week we read parshas Nitzavim which literally means "standing". Even after the Jewish People suffer they will remain "standing" as we are the nation that Hashem has Chosen and will endure according to His Will. After reading "Nitzavim" we read "VaYelech" which this year we read both together this Shabbos. VaYelech means and "he went", I would like to suggest that after we read the fact that we are "standing" the Jewish People don't just endure they keep walking they keep going.

Being the last Shabbas of the year we can reflect on the upheaval we have witnessed this year. It has been tragic in many sense destroying people physically, spiritually, emotionally and financially. As we head towards a Rosh Hashana which will look entirely different from those of our past, we must remember we will remain standing and we will keep walking. G-d's Plan is playing out in front of us, we may certainly not understand everything that is going on, but we know that we are in the "Perfect Hands".

Shabbat Shalom,

Chasiva V'Chasima Tova!
