As we begin our journey through the High Holy Days and continue with the sukkot holiday, we should be mindful that we are building the spiritual roots which will dictate everything in the year to come. Everything that happened to us on a personal and national level was decided last year during this time. We all have things in life that we wish were better and we should certainly pray for these but we should look beyond ourselves as well. Contemplate how many people are suffering worldwide, how many of our friends are suffering? How many of our family members, community members are suffering? The more and more we expand our hearts we will come to the conclusion that there is seemingly a chaotic world. On Rosh Hashana we pray that G-d's Kingship should be completely revealed, when that happens all of the disorder we perceive will fall into order. All of the "wrong" will be "righted" and the suffering will be relieved as a result. Let's try on Rosh Hashana to take just a few minutes too look beyond ourselves and situation and pray for the ultimate rectification.

Shabbat Shalom Shana Tova,

May we be inscribed and sealed for good.
