As we approach Shabbas Shuva and the Holy day of Yom Kippur it is a time to reflect on our past and to repent for our deeds. Our Sages teach us that the power of repentance was one of the things "created before the world". This indicates that the power of repentance transcends our physical world and time. How is it possible for us to undo that which we did in the past? Since repentance transcends time it has the power to "erase" the past. This is only possible though if we repent properly. This includes realizing and confessing to our sins which is sometimes very difficult as we have a natural inclination to rationalize and downplay our misdeeds. This also requires our remorse and resolve to stop any sinful activity. When we tap into this power of repentance we are able to transcend our own existence and to "recreate" ourselves. We have an awesome opportunity to begin again, start over and remold our existence, let's take advantage of this time!

Shabbat Shalom and Gemar Chasima Tova!
