In this week's Parsha we read about the birth of Moshe and his subsequent upbringing in the palace of Pharaoh. The Parsha tells us that as Moshe grew up he left the palace to see the suffering of the Jewish People. Moshe could have turned a blind eye to the suffering of his brethren and remained safe and secure in his royal lifestyle but he didn't. Moshe was able to look outside himself and turn to the plight of his oppressed fellows. The Medrash tells us that in reward for this Hashem therefore "turned" to Moshe and spoke with him. This was the start of Moshe's rise to leadership, greatness and spiritual perfection.

We can all learn from Moshe and follow in his ways. Although we may be "fine" and "good", many of our fellow Jews are suffering. Especially during these unprecedented times when people are sick, lonely, and faced with financial and personal hardships we have even more responsibility to look out for our fellow.

May we all be blessed with happiness, health and peace.

  Shabbat Shalom
