In this week's Parsha we read that a person is not sustained by bread alone but through the "mouth of Hashem". When man was created he was not supposed to toil for his sustenance Adam in the Garden of Eden didn't not have to work for his sustenance. Only after man sinned was he cursed with the need to toil for his sustenance. Once that happened it became incumbent upon a person to make an effort to sustain himself. If this would not have happened though it not only wouldn't have been needed for us to work it would have been forbidden. A person would need to take only what he would be given by Hashem. Even though we now must work to provide for ourselves this only means we are supposed to work, we still need to understand that the outcome of that work is still entirely dependent on the "mouth of Hashem". We must strengthen our belief and trust in Hashem to realize as the Ramchal tells us that our efforts are only a "tax" that must be paid due to the curse, but in no way does it determine our success. That being said man is only allowed to do the work, but to occupy his mind with worries or concerns about the outcome is something that he must refrain from. The outcome is something that is not in our hands and therefore having any concern about it shows our lack of faith that Hashem is really the ultimate source of sustainment.
Shabbat Shalom,
