In this week's parsha we read about the mitzvah of Teshuva, repentance. The Torah tells us that this mitzvah is not "far from us" but it is very close. Although it isn't necessarily easy to change our ways and bad habits, we don't have to change overnight. What we need to do is have a sincere will and desire to change our ways. Like a father waiting for his rebellious son to return home, Hashem is waiting for us to change our ways for the better. We have to take the first steps and pray for Divine assistance.

On Rosh Hashana, it is the day that we as a nation recognize our special relationship with Hashem and crown Him as king over the entire world. It is the time for us to pray that His Kingship be revealed to the entire world and more specifically that all of the Jewish People should realize that Hashem is our King. He is directing and ruling the entire world and we need to rejoice in His Kingship and rule.

Shabbat Shalom,

Kasiva Vchasima Tova - Happy and healthy new year to everyone.
