In this week's Parsha we read the ten commandments which include the commandment to observe Shabbat. When we observe Shabbat we reconnect to the fact that G-d Created the world in six days and rested on the 7th. It is a time for us to re-calibrate each week and to uplift ourselves from the mundane troubles, difficulties and "stuff" we deal with during the regular work week. It is an opportunity to awaken from our slumber and realize that Hashem is really running the show. Although we may be working the entire week it allows us to see who is the true source of our success.

There is a story told of a father whose son was sick and needed to have a very complex and risky surgery. The father was a wise man and before the surgery the doctor approached the father and asked him to sign a release form. The doctor told the father that if the surgery is not a success he should not be blamed for it and therefore it was necessary to sign the release. The father understandably was willing to comply but he told the doctor that he had one condition. The father told the doctor that he wanted to doctor to sign a form as well. The father explained that he wanted the doctor to sign a form that if the surgery is a success that he should not take credit as he is not the cause, rather he should realize it is Hashem who causes the success.

Shabbat Shalom,
