In this week's parsha we read that Hashem tells the Jewish People " I have put before you the path of life and the path of death" and Hashem tells us to choose the path of life. Many times we are faced with a choice in which we must choose which path to take. How do we decide which path we should proceed along? We must look into the Torah, ask our Rabbis and determine which is the path of "life" and which is the path of "death". The Torah is the spiritual "waze" to direct us in the proper path. It is Hashem's direction on what we should do and choose.

Many times though we may find that the path of life the path that the Torah tells us to go on seems inaccurate. It may conflict with our instincts, our worldview, our feelings or emotions. A person needs to put their faith in the Torah and that G-d who created us, created the world and created the various paths is obviously giving us the proper direction. If it conflicts with what we would otherwise think then we must realize we don't see the whole picture and that is why we are going down the path that G-d has directed us upon.

When you are driving in your car and you know the proper way to go from point A to point B, but all of a sudden your "waze" tells you to go in a different direction. The direction may seem incorrect or longer, but what do we do? We assume that "waze" "knows" that there is traffic or some hazard, construction or something else that will prevent us from getting to where we want how we want. We therefore follow "waze" because we have faith that we are missing something and we have full faith in "waze".

If we can have faith in waze then we should certainly have faith in the "Master Engineer" that He knows what is the best path for us.

Shabbat Shalom,

Heath
