This week we will celebrate Rosh Hashana, the new year. As we approach the high holidays we need to realize that it is a time that we are "building" the new year. The "books are open" and we have an opportunity to write the script of our personal and communal existence for the year to come. We should not only pray that things that aren't good should improve, but it is important that we pray that the good that we have should remain as well. It is a chance to restart our physical and spiritual lives, a chance to reconnect and rebuild.

The main theme of the prayers on Rosh Hashana is the crowning of Hashem as King. We accomplish this by praying for Hashem's Kingship to be revealed to everyone, but we need to align our thoughts, speech and actions with the rules of the Kingdom. We don't want our words to be empty and we therefore have to make sure that we are acting like loyal servants to the King as this is the greatest way for us to reveal His Kingship to the world.

Shana Tova,

Kasiva V'Chasima Tova!
