In this week's Parsha we read about Noach, the ark he built and the story of the flood which basically wiped out the entire world. The Parsha begins by telling us that Noach was a righteous person in his generation. Even though the entire world was corrupted, Noach didn't follow in their ways and remained faithful to the Will of G-d. He was ostracized and ridiculed by his peers but he was unwavering in his position and beliefs. We know at the end of the story Noach and his family were miraculously saved from the flood which destroyed the entire world. It was from Noach that the entire world was rebuilt and restored.

Although we generally are not faced with a challenge in which we need to stand up against the entire world, we may nevertheless be faced with similar situations among our families, friends, co-workers and communities. There are times when everyone around us seems to say something is ok to do, or they support something which we know is wrong. We need to follow in the ways of Noach who wasn't afraid to stand up against the entire world. Although we might not see the salvation in the miraculous way in which Noach did, we should realize that our stance for the right and proper path is worthy of building the entire world upon.

Shabbat Shalom,

Heath
