In this week's parsha we read about Avraham Avinu and the great efforts he put in to welcome guests. The Torah tells us that when Avraham Avinu was still in pain and recovering from his bris milah, he nevertheless exerted himself to welcome three guests that came to visit. Avraham was the pillar of loving kindness and his house was open to everyone.
To emulate the ways of Avraham is not easy. Many people are willing to do kindness but when they do kindness they are really looking out for themselves not for the other person. When we approach people, do we first try to understand how we can gain or have our needs filled by this person or do we look and first see how we can provide and fulfill their needs? Do we search out and look how we can help others or do we wait for them to ask and then help?
Shabbat Shalom,
Heath
