In this week's parsha we read about the trials and tribulations of the righteous Yosef. Yosef's life is what we would call a rollercoaster ride of sorts. He went from being the favored child in his father's house to being, shunned and almost killed by his brothers. He was thrown into a pit and eventually sold a slave. In slavery he quickly rose with great success to handle all of the affairs of his master's house. He was then falsely accused and thrown into prison. While in prison he quickly rose once again to become a leader handling the affairs of the prison. Next week we will read about his release from prison and rise as the viceroy of all of Egypt.
Ironically Yosef is the only person described in the entire Torah as being "successful". There are many things we can learn from Yosef and his life, but the answer to true success is to never give up. In every situation that he was placed in, he realized that Hashem put him there for some reason and he always made the best of his situation. It wasn't always the situation that he wanted to be in, but whatever the situation was he strove to be the best he could be given the circumstances.
Shabbat Shalom and Happy Chanukah to everyone!
