In this week's parsha we read about the tragic episode of the golden calf. After Moshe Rabbeinu ascended Mount Sinai to receive the Torah, the Jewish People built an idol. It is unfathomable how the nation could have fallen so quickly into this sin. But our sages teach us a very important lesson that we can learn from the episode and that is the power of repentance. In what was seemingly one of the worst sins, we were nevertheless, as a nation, capable of repenting and rebuilding. As long as we are still living in this world we are afforded the opportunity to fix our past misdeeds and repent.
We should never give up on ourselves as we can always change our ways and improve.
Shabbat Shalom,
Heath
