In this week's Parsha we read about Yaakov Avinu and how he leaves his home and flees to Charan, to avoid the wrath of Esav his brother. The Torah relates this by saying that "Yaakov left Be'er Sheva and went to Charan". The sefas emes asks that we would expect that the Torah would state that Yaakov "fled" and "ran" or a similar language relating that he ran away with great haste. The Sefas Emes explains that although Yaakov needed to leave quickly he wasn't in an emotional or physiological hurry. He proceeded as if he was "walking".

This teaches us that even though we are in a pressure situation, or a situation which is uncomfortable or difficult, nevertheless we need to keep our head in the right place. We need to proceed with trust and faith in Hashem no matter what journey we are embarking on.

Shabbat Shalom,

Heath
